Welcome to our cosy, traditional crofter's cottage....

Cornhill Cottage is a traditional stone cottage situated in the village of Talmine on the west side of the Kyle of Tongue, Sutherland. That’s in the middle at the very top of Scotland!

2022 bookings are dependent on COVID regulations. Payments will be fully refunded if regulations in Scotland or your country of residence prohibit travel or self-catering holidays at the time of your stay.

The cottage is comfortable and well equipped, and sleeps four adults. It is a 10 minute walk from the beach. Cornhill is conveniently situated just 200m from the village shop/post office which stocks a good range of fresh and frozen food, and other essentials. Further local amenities (bank, fuel etc.) are available in Tongue, approximately 5 miles away.

Located in the heart of ‘MacKay country’ the Kyle of Tongue is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and it certainly lives up to that description. Views from the cottage are stunning... the immense ocean and sky, the islands in the mouth of the Kyle, and dramatic coastal scenery. Looking inland the landscape is dominated by two mountains: the most northerly of the Munros – Ben Hope, and the most famous of the Corbets – Ben Loyal, also known as the ‘Queen of Scottish Mountains’

At Cornhill you really do get away from it all! The countryside and wildlife are fantastic and the scenery is breath-taking. It is an ideal holiday destination if you enjoy walking and wildlife, or just want to recharge in a peaceful and beautiful place, collecting unforgettable memories and amazing photographs. Before your visit please watch the Visit Scotland video here about enjoying Scotland responsibly.
